I am went back through this and cleaned it up a little and I am ready to post it if you think it’s okay. I’m honored to be donating this painting to ‘Save Salado Creek’ for their October 1 benefit at Tenroc Ranch, featuring Michael Martin Murphey. I painted ‘Original Stream’ as a meditation on communication, and where it began. Before highways, trucks, telephone lines, and data, there was water. Salado Creek carried people, stories, news, and life. In the painting, the eye travels in a deliberate Z pattern: from the trucks and highway, to the old homestead, to two women talking in the creek, to children playing in the water, and finally to the Great Blue Heron standing downstream. New streams have carried us a long way, but the original stream is still here.
