open calls

Browse and submit to open calls for artists.

Open calls

Open calls are opportunities for artists to submit work to exhibitions, residencies, and curatorial projects posted on Provenance.

Browse open calls

Visit /open-calls or /open-calls/browse to see active calls. Each listing shows:

  • Host organization or curator
  • Deadline
  • Medium requirements
  • Submission guidelines

Viewing a call

Click any open call to see full details at /open-calls/[slug], including eligibility, required materials, and the submission form.

Submitting

  1. Open the call detail page.
  2. Click Submit.
  3. Select artworks from your collection or upload new work.
  4. Add a statement or cover letter if required.
  5. Submit before the deadline.

You'll receive confirmation and can track submission status from the Portal dashboard.

Creating open calls

Galleries and curators can post open calls:

  1. Go to /open-calls and create a new call.
  2. Set title, deadline, description, and submission requirements.
  3. Publish — the call appears in browse listings.

AI opportunities assistant

With an active subscription, artists can use the Opportunities AI chat to discover open calls matched to their practice. The assistant searches active calls and recommends relevant opportunities.

Access it from the grants/opportunities area or via /api/opportunities/chat (in-app only).
